Windows 11 2022 gets released on the 22nd of September, this month. This comes up with some unique features like optimizations to windowed games, lavish interface, and others. Several users are still confused about whether they should upgrade to this version or not, and Microsoft has already blocked Windows 11 22H2 on some Intel PCs.
They have taken this step amid the news on compatibility issues affecting certain drivers related to Intel Smart Sound Technology (SST). Those who are on an Intel 11th Gen Core processor, are more likely to face compatibility issues or difficulty installing Windows 11.
Windows 11 222h2 is now blocked, what now?
The tech giant has even confirmed some users getting a Blue Screen error after they upgrade their devices to the 22h2 version. This new release is affecting the following Intel driver – Intel® Smart Sound Technology (Intel® SST) Audio Controller. You may find this device driver under the name “IntcAudioBus.sys” and its version number reads either 10.29.0.5152 or 10.30.0.5152.
Microsoft is likely to release a fix to this problem in Oct 2022. Till then, wait and enjoy the operating system installed or running on your PC.
Tip: Windows 11 2022 Known Issues and Problems
How can one fix this problem?
Upgrading your device to Windows 11 2022 using the conventional ways is clearly out of the picture. This is because whether you opt for Installation Assistant, Media Creation Tool, or direct ISO file, all of them require an active internet connection to log you into your Microsoft account.
So, what you can do at max is clean install Windows 11, version 22H2 on your computer, with WiFi or Mobile HotSpot disabled. For a clean install, you need to have an ISO image which you can easily get from here. If this link is also not working for you, get the ISO file from a computer that supports the new version.
All early bypasses and skipping TPM checks are not working now. However, you may still skip checking TPM on your device using the MediaCreationTool. Visit this link (GitHub), and download the zipped file. Extract this file and reach out to this folder inside –
MediaCreationTool.bat-main > MediaCreationTool.bat-main > bypass11
Inside the bypass11 folder, locate and double-click on Skip_TPM_Check_on_Dynamic_Update. This will run inside the Windows PowerShell next. After installing this script, try again to update your existing operating system. As there won’t be any TPM Checks, your device will upgrade to the latest version of Windows 11. If you don’t know how to proceed with this, check out this detailed guide.
After you install the new OS, Windows 11 2022 on your computer, make sure to disable the above script as well. The steps to stop running scripts on your PC are also explained in that guide.
