December 2022 Security updates are now available for all versions of Windows 11, 10, 7, and 8.1. Microsoft releases new servicing stack updates, .NET Framework updates, and Office updates for its pre-existing versions every second Tuesday of the month. Key Highlights:

  • Improves the security of the whole operating system.
  • Includes improvements that were a part of update KB5019157 (released November 15, 2022).

  • Servicing Stack update: 19045.2300, 19044.2300, 19043.2300, and 19042.2300

Key Highlights:

  • Addresses an issue affecting the Camera app on your Windows PC. This issue mostly arises when the memory is low, and when it occurs, it causes the Camera app to stop responding.
  • Contains miscellaneous security improvements to internal OS functionality.
  • No additional issues were documented for this release.

4] Windows 10, version 1809

  • Release Note: KB5021237
  • OS Build: 17763.3770
  • Servicing Stack update: 17763.3641

Key Highlights:

  • Addresses the suspension of daylight saving time (DST) in the Republic of Fiji for this year.
  • Works and resolves an issue that might affect applications running on the Windows Lock Down Policy (WLDP).
  • Contains miscellaneous security improvements to internal OS functionality.

Known Issue on it:

  • After installing KB5001342, the Cluster Service failed to start because a Cluster Network Driver is not found. This bug might appear after this patch update as well.
  • Applications that use ODBC connections through Microsoft ODBC SQL Server Driver (sqlsrv32.dll) might not connect or face trouble accessing databases.

5] Windows 10, version 1607

Key Highlights:

  • Improves the security of the whole operating system.
  • Addresses the suspension of daylight saving time (DST) in the Republic of Fiji for this year.
  • Resolves a known issue that might affect the Local Security Authority Subsystem Service (LSASS.exe). This error was known to cause a memory leak on Windows domain controllers.

Microsoft has not documented any known issue associated with this security patch to Windows 10 1607.

6] Windows 10 1507 (Initial version)

Key Changes:

  • Improves the security of the whole operating system.
  • Addresses the suspension of daylight saving time (DST) in the Republic of Fiji for this year.

Note: Microsoft is not currently aware of any issues with this update.

7] Windows 8.1 and Windows Server 2012 R2

Key Changes:

  • Improves the overall security of your Windows operating system.
  • By order of the Fijian government, Fiji will not observe daylight saving time (DST) in 2022. As a result of this, the clock won’t change by an hour at 02:00 on Nov 13th, 2022 in Fiji.
  • Resolves a Memory Leak Issue in the Local Security Authority Subsystem Service (LSASS.exe) that appears mostly on Windows domain controllers. This bug first started after installing a cumulative update dated Nov 8, 2022.

8] Windows 7 SP1 and Windows Server 2008 R2

Key Changes:

  • By order of the Fijian government, Fiji will not observe daylight saving time (DST) in 2022. As a result of this, the clock won’t change by an hour at 02:00 on Nov 13th, 2022 in Fiji.

How to Download and Install December 2022 Security updates

To download and upgrade your respective operating system to December 2022 Update via Windows Update, do the following –

  • Launch Settings (Win + I) first.
  • Go to Windows Update, and hit Check for updates.

The system will connect to Microsoft servers online and download/install the pending updates on your computer.

If you would like to upgrade your Windows Server, locate and click on your own Server among the below list. Search for the respective Server, and when found, click the Download button. Proceeding this way, you may easily upgrade your Windows Server.
